Thursday 9th October

 

Today produced 2 Red Admirals at the top lake.

 

Wednesday 8th October

 

Sightings today included 4 Speckled Woods, 2 Red Admirals, 1 Large White and 1 Small White.

 

September 2008

 

Monday 29th September

 

Today's totals included 1 Red Admiral, 2 Commas and a Large White.

 

Thursday 25th September

 

3 Commas, 1 Red Admiral, 1 Small Heath and 1 Small Tortoiseshell.

 

Thursday 18th September

 

6 Red Admirals, 2 Commas and 2 Small Whites.

 

Tuesday 16th September

 

2 Red Admirals, 1 Small Tortoiseshell, 3 Large Whites and 3 Small Whites.

 

Monday 15th September

 

Very quiet today with just 1 Peacock and 2 Red Admirals recorded.

 

Thursday 11th September

 

8 Red Admirals, 2 Small Heaths, 2 Small Tortoiseshells, 6 Large Whites, 10 Small Whites and 1 Green-veined White.

 

Tuesday 9th September

 

1 Small Copper, 8 Red Admirals, 6 Large Whites, 10 Small Whites and 1 Small Tortoiseshell.

 

Monday 8th September

 

New to the site today was a Painted Lady at the bottom lake, also 6 Large Whites, 10 Small Whites, 1 Green-veined White and 6 Red Admirals.

 

Monday 1st September

 

1 Small Copper was at the bottom lake, also 7 Meadow Browns, 6 Small Whites, 2 Large Whites and 1 Red Admiral.

 

August 2008

 

Friday 29th August

 

Our first Holly Blue was present today, also 7 Meadow Browns, 1 Red Admiral, 2 Common Blues, 10 Small Whites and 2 Large Whites.

 

Thursday 28th August

 

1 Large White and 3 Speckled Woods.

 

Tuesday 26th August

 

Very little today with just 3 Small Heaths, 4 Small Whites, and 1 Common Blue.

 

Thursday 21st August

 

2 Common Blues, 15 Meadow Browns, 4 Small Heaths, 4 Small Whites, 1 Red Admiral, 1 Peacock and 1 Wall Brown.

 

Monday 18th August

 

8 Meadow Browns, 2 Common Blues, 1 Gatekeeper and 1 Small White.

 

Thursday 14th August

 

1 Marbled White, 20 Meadow Browns, 4 Gatekeepers, 3 Common Blues, 2 Small Tortoiseshells, 4 Small Heaths, 1 Peacock, 1 Small White and 1 Wall Brown.

 

Tuesday 12th August

 

4 Large Whites, 15 Meadow Browns, 5 Gatekeepers, 1 Red Admiral, 1 Small Tortoiseshell, 1 Peacock, 3 Small Whites, 2 Small Heaths, 2 Common Blues and 1 Wall Brown.

 

Monday 11th August

 

Star butterfly today was an Adonis Blue briefly by the bottom lake, also 10 Meadow Browns, 4 Gatekeepers, 1 Small White and 4 Small Heaths.

 

Thursday 7th August

 

Very few butterflies again today with just 4 Wall Browns, 4 Gatekeepers and 1 Common Blue.

 

Tuesday 5th August

 

Very little today due to poor weather, butterflies that were seen included 10 Gatekeepers, 10 Meadow Browns, 3 Marbled Whites and 2 Small Heaths.

 

Monday 4th August

 

7 Common Blues, 8 Marbled Whites, 10 Wall Browns, 20 Meadow Browns, 4 Small Heaths, 4 Large Whites, 5 Small Whites, 1 Peacock, 40 Gatekeepers and 1 Small Skipper.

 

July 2008

 

Thursday 31st July

 

1 Grayling was seen by the bottom lake, with 1 Small Copper, 2 Peacocks, 1 Red Admiral, 1 Comma, 1 Common Blue, 4 Marbled Whites, 1 Small Skipper, 4 Large Skippers, 15 Wall Browns, 50 Meadow Browns, 1 Speckled Wood, 1 Green-veined White, 2 Large Whites, 10 Small Whites and 30 Gatekeepers around the site.

 

Monday 28th July

 

A good record of 2 Silver-studded Blues in the pasture field this morning capped off a very good day. Also present were 5 Common Blues, 16 Marbled Whites, 5 Large Skippers, 1 Small Skipper, 2 Peacocks, 4 Commas, 1 Large White, 2 Speckled Woods, 15 Small Whites, 10 Green-veined Whites, 15 Wall Browns, 30 Gatekeepers, 40 Meadow Browns and 2 Red Admirals.

 

Wednesday 23rd July

 

Species of butterfly today included 1 Clouded Yellow seen briefly in the house & woodland area, 25 Gatekeepers, 1 Peacock, 15 Marbled Whites, 60 Meadow Browns, 1 Large Skipper, 4 Small Skippers, 3 Small Coppers, 6 Common Blues, 15 Small Whites, 15 Green-veined Whites, 10 Large Whites, 2 Commas and 2 Red Admirals.

 

Tuesday 22nd July

 

Another impressive day around the site with a total of 10 Small Whites, 25 Gatekeepers, 1 Large Skipper, 60 Meadow Browns, 7 Large Whites, 2 Commas, 1 Peacock, 2 Red Admirals, 15 Marbled Whites, 1 Common Blue, 10 Green-veined Whites, 1 Ringlet and 1 Small Tortoiseshell.

 

Monday 21st July

 

8 Marbled Whites, 20 Gatekeepers, 7 Large Whites, 7 Green-veined Whites, 1 Common Blue, 2 Red Admirals, 1 Ringlet, 3 Speckled Woods, 2 Large Skippers, 1 Small Skipper, 30 Meadow Browns and 4 Small Whites.

 

Thursday 17th July

 

6 Small Skippers, 2 Large Skippers, 4 Green-veined Whites, 20 Marbled Whites, 1 Ringlet, 2 Large Whites, 1 Small White, 35 Meadow Browns, 12 Gatekeepers and 1 Speckled Wood.

 

Tuesday 15th July

 

Butterflies today included a total of 25 Meadow Browns, 5 Large Whites, 3 Small Whites, 7 Green-veined Whites, 10 Gatekeepers, 15 Marbled Whites, 3 Ringlets and 1 Large Skipper.

 

Monday 14th July

 

An excellent day for butterflies today with 1 Small Copper, 65 Meadow Browns, 35 Marbled Whites, 1 Large Skipper, 6 Small Skippers, 15 Large Whites, 7 Green-veined Whites, 1 Small Tortoiseshell, 1 Red Admiral, 2 Common Blues, 10 Ringlets, 10 Gatekeepers, 7 Small Whites and 3 Small Heaths.

 

Tuesday 8th July

 

Our first Comma was seen today, also 2 Small Skippers, 3 Marbled Whites, 8 Meadow Browns, 1 Large Skipper, 1 Green-veined White and 1 Gatekeeper.

 

Wednesday 2nd July

 

20 Marbled Whites, 20 Meadow Browns, and 3 Small Heaths.

 

Tuesday 1st July

 

Butterflies recorded today included 1 Small Tortoiseshell, 15 Marbled Whites, 25 Meadow Browns, 1 Common Blue, 3 Ringlets, 1 Green-veined White, 3 Small Heaths, 3 Large Skippers and 1 Small Skipper.

 

June 2008

 

Monday 30th June

 

A total of 14 Marbled Whites, 3 Gatekeepers, 3 Large Skippers, 2 Small Skippers, 25 Meadow Browns, 4 Small Heaths, 3 Large Whites, 3 Ringlets and 1 Small Tortoiseshell.

 

Thursday 26th June

 

Several Large Skippers today, also 13 Marbled Whites, 3 Common Blues, 17 Meadow Browns, 5 Small Heaths, 1 Small Tortoiseshell and 3 Ringlets.

 

Wednesday 25th June

 

Our first Marbled White was seen today, also 10 Meadow Browns, 1 Common Blue, 4 Small Heaths, 1 Red Admiral and 1 Small White.

 

Tuesday 24th June

Our first Large Skipper was seen today.

Friday 20th June

3 Small Whites, 2 Meadow Browns, 2 Common Blues and a Speckled Wood.

Thursday 19 June

3 Common Blues, 1 Small Tortoiseshell, 3 Meadow Browns and 7 Small Heaths.

Monday 16th June

1 Red Admiral, 14 Small Heaths, 1 Green-veined White, 4 Common Blues, 3 Meadow Browns and a Speckled Wood.

Thursday 12th June

1 Red Admiral, 2 Meadow Browns, 2 Speckled Woods, 11 Small Heaths and 6 Common Blues.

Tuesday 10th June

 

5 Meadow Browns, 6 Wall Browns and 5 Common Blues.

 

Monday 9th June

 

13 Wall Browns, 3 Common Blues, 2 Small Coppers and 1 Red Admiral.

 

Friday 6th June

 

3 Wall Browns and 2 Common Blues.

Thursday 14th May

 

Butterflies included a total of 15 Wall Browns around the site, 7 Peacocks, 2 Common Blues,Small Whites, 1 Orange Tip, 3 Red Admirals and 5 Small Coppers. 

 

Tuesday 13th May

 

Butterflies today included a total of 8 Small Heaths, 3 Orange Tips, 2 Red Admirals, 13 Wall Browns, 2 Common Blues and 4 Small Whites. 

 

Monday 12th May

 

Good numbers of butterflies today with 15 Wall Browns, 7 Peacocks, 2 Common Blues,Small Whites, 1 Orange Tip, 3 Red Admirals and 5 Small Coppers. 

 

Friday 9th May

 

One early Gatekeeper was present this morning, alongside 2 Red Admirals, Small Whites, 3 Peacocks and 1 Speckled Wood. 

 

Thursday 8th May

 

4 Small Tortoiseshells , 5 Common Blues,Small Whites and 4 Red Admirals. 

 

Tuesday 6th May
