Moth trapping commenced on the 25th June 2008, for the first time on site and started in the House & Woodland Area: Results are as follows.

 

October 2008

 

Thursday 9th October

 

1 L-A Wainscot, 1 Silver Y, 1 Grey Dagger, 5 Large Yellow Underwings, 3 Bright-line Brown-eye, 4 Common Rustics, 1 Snout, 1 Lunar Underwing, 1 Common Wainscot, 1 Brimstone, 3 Garden Carpets.

 

September 2008

 

Tuesday 30th September

 

Today's totals included 13 Large Yellow Underwings, 4 Black Rustics, 1 The Shark, 1 Angleshades, 1 Brimstone, 2 Silver Y, 1 Flame, 5 Lunar Underwings, 1 Square-Spot Rustic, 2 Hart & Darts, 2 Canary- shouldered Thorn and 1 Flame Shoulder.

 

Tuesday 16th September

 

Very quiet in the moth trap this morning with just 1 Garden Carpet, 1 Common Wainscot, 3 Large Yellow Underwings, 1 Common Rustic, 1 Flame Shoulder, 3 Square Spot Rustics, 1 Dark Arches and a new species for the site 1 Red Underwing.

 

Monday 15th September

 

A change of position lead to a very quiet morning in the moth trap, with just 3 Large Yellow Underwings, 1 Garden Carpet, 5 Square Spot Rustics, 1 Common Wainscot, 5 Common Rustics, 1 Light Emerald, 1 Silver Y and 1 Flame Shoulder.

 

Thursday 11th September

 

1 Frosted Orange, 1 Angleshades, 2 Light Emeralds, 80 Large Yellow Underwings, 1 Broad-Bordered Yellow Underwing, 1 Mother of Pearl, 1 Lesser Yellow Underwing, 24 Common Rustics, 4 Hebrew Characters, 15 Square Spot Rustics, 2 Dunbar 2 Brimstone, 2 Common Wainscots, 1 Smoky Wainscot, 1 Swallowtail, 2 Burnished Brass, 2 Garden Carpets, 2 Silver Y, 1 Dark Arches, 9 Flame Shoulders and 13 Flames.

 

August 2008

 

Friday 29th August

 

It was a good moth trapping session overnight with a total of 99 Large Yellow Underwings, 16 Light Emeralds, 1 Southern Wainscot, 3 Common Wainscots, 31 Common Rustics, 3 Silver Y, 6 Grey Daggers, 2 Broad-Bordered Yellow Underwings, 2 Brimstones, 1 Hart & Dart, 1 Dun Bar, 1 Burnished Brass, 1 Angleshades, 5 Lesser-Broad Bordered Yellow Underwings and 13 Garden Carpets.

 

July 2008

 

Tuesday 15th July

 

Trapping overnight in the Walled Garden produced:

 

1 Poplar Hawk-Moth, 25 Dark Arches, 2 Peppered Moths, 3 Burnished Brass, 1 Nutmeg, 10 Common Rustics, 1 Hart & Dart, 1 Smoky Wainscot, 5 Light Arches, 5 Hart & Clubs, 1 Common Footman, 1 Scalloped Oak, 1 Poplar Grey, 1 Brimstone, 7 Dun Bar, 2 Large Yellow Underwings, 1 Broad- Boardered Yellow Underwing, 4 Bright-line Brown-eyes, 1 Buff Arches, 2 Lesser Yellow Underwing, 2 Hebrew Characters, 1 Common Wainscot, 1 Yellowtail and 1 Clay.

 

Tuesday 1st July

 

The first trapping session in the Walled Garden produced:

 

1 Poplar Hawk-Moth 1 Burnished Brass, 1 Bright-line Brown-eye, 6 Uncertain, 1 Dark Spectacle, 5 Dark Arches, 1 L-A Wainscot, 3 Large Yellow Underwings and 2 Buff Ermines

 

June 2008

 

Thursday 26th June

 

Another moth trapping session in the house & woodland area produced 1 Privet Hawk-Moth, 1 White Ermine, 2 Magpie, 1 Hart & Dart, 2 Bright-line Brown-eye, 2 Flame, 1 Silver Y, 7 Hart & Club, 1 Large Yellow Underwing, 1 Common Rustic, 1 Mottled Beauty, 2 Flame Shoulder, 1 Buff Ermine, 1 Barred Straw, 1 Turnip Moth, 1 Hebrew Character and 1 Knot Grass.

 

Wednesday 25th June

2 Poplar Hawk-Moths, 1 Elephant Hawk-Moth, 32 Large Yellow Underwings, 2 Scorched Wing, 3 Common Wainscot, 6 Common Rustic, 21 Hart & Darts, 6 Hart & Club, 2 Dark Spectacles, 2 Burnished Brass, 1 Mottled Beauty, 3 Flame, 1 Nutmeg, 2 Dark Arches, 2 Flame Shoulder, 1, Hebrew Character, 1, Garden Carpet, 1 Grey Dagger, 1 Peach Blossom, 1 Clouded Silver and 1 Latticed Heath.
